SQL Server’s transaction log can be confusing for alot of DBAs and developers. What exactly is being logged? How often should I back it up? Why is it growing so much…and so often? Is the file supposed to be that big? Is my code affecting it somehow? In this presentation we will cover the basics of what the transaction log is, how it works, and also give you some tips to manage the transaction log in your environment.

Matt Batalon has 15 years of experience in the Information Technology field with a focus on software development and database administration. For the past ten years, he has worked extensively with Microsoft SQL Server and the .NET framework.
He has a Bachelors Degree from Bryant University with a concentration in Computer Information Systems, and also holds the Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) Certification in Database Administration.
